The mission of the Department of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Monterey is to prepare students to become full and active members of the Catholic Church who are capable of making significant contributions to society and managing change in a culturally diverse world community. The Department of Catholic Schools accomplishes this by assisting Catholic schools within the Diocese to:

  • Teach life, academic, athletic, and social skills to students of all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds;
  • Provide a loving, caring, and disciplined Catholic school environment where all students can reach and maximize their full human potential;
  • Encourage students to serve the Church, their local community, the nation, and the world community by actively engaging in ministry to others;
  • Educate children so they may be prepared for responsible citizenship, life-long earning, and productive participation in a global economy;
  • Promote the home-school partnership in education by recognizing parents as primary educators of their children and providing opportunities for them to be active participants in the educational ministry of their child's school.
