Mission Statement
Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School expresses the educational mission of the
Catholic Church. Faculty, staff, and parents work together to provide students
with a Christ-centered education and the tools for life-long learning.
School Profile
Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School opened its doors to the citizens of Paso
Robles on September 7, 1959 under the direction of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of
Wichita, Kansas. Sister Stanislaus, the school's first principal, established
the high academic and Christian expectations that are continued today. Grades
one through five were offered as combination classes during the first few years
to accommodate the school's original enrollment of 139 students. One grade was
added each successive year. During the 1962-1963 school year, grades one through
eight were available for Saint Rose students. A kindergarten was established in
September of 1983 to better serve the community. A preschool serving children
who are three through five years of age was opened in September of 1993.
Curriculum
Catholic values, as stated in the school's philosophy, are of prime importance in
the development of the general curriculum at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School.
These values guide us in our continuing goal to create a positive atmosphere of
learning. We recognize the uniqueness of each child through a student-centered
curriculum. We promote high academic standards of excellence that extend beyond
the basic mastery of content skills to a higher level of critical thinking and
life-long learning. Through the integration of Catholic values into the secular
curriculum, students develop and apply Catholic teachings and critical thinking
skills to their everyday lives.
Accreditation
Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School is fully accredited by the Western Association
of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Educational Association
(WCEA).
