Mission Statement

The administration, faculty, and staff of Salesian Elementary and Junior High School, convinced of the importance and value of educating the whole child by means of the educational method of Saint John Bosco, will strive to provide a formative experience that pursues academic excellence and the promotion of vital human and Christian values.

School Profile

Salesian Elementary and Junior High School is a private Catholic school operating in the Diocese of Monterey offering classes for students in kindergarten through grade eight. Our dedicated teachers and administration are certified by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the State of California. The administration, faculty, and staff are dedicated to the integral formation of their students, striving to foster in them all that is necessary for their development as good citizens and committed Christians. We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children and therefore, it is of utmost importance that parent, child, and school not merely cooperate, but truly collaborate in the process of education.

Curriculum

Salesian Elementary and Junior High School draws its inspiration from the educational method of Saint John Bosco whose pedagogical approach — based on reason, religion and kindness — fosters a family-like atmosphere that is rich in Gospel values. Our academic program follows Diocesan guidelines that include a core curriculum with daily religion classes. The curriculum is enhanced with classes in art, music, physical education, and computer skills.  Foreign languages are offered at the junior high level. Other programs and events include D.A.R.E, school wide book fair, talent show, Diocesan Academic Decathlon, Grandparents Day, and participation in the countywide spelling bee, math contest, science fair, authors fair, and interscholastic sports.

Accreditation

Salesian Elementary and Junior High School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA).
