Mission Statement
San Carlos School is a ministry of San Carlos Cathedral Parish. Our mission
is to model and teach Christian life, to integrate academic excellence and
skills with Gospel values, and to create a mutually supportive community.
Philosophy
San Carlos School is a Catholic school. Our academic faith
community fosters the development of the whole person -- mind, body and
spirit. By promoting academic excellence and personal growth, individual
gifts are cultivated, Gospel values are affirmed, and opportunities to
experience God are nurtured. San Carlos School encourages a partnership with
parents, who are the first educators, to guide our students to become
value-oriented, compassionate, self-disciplined, responsible citizens. We
prepare our students to be life-long learners who possess an appreciation for
humanity and all of God's creation.
Curriculum
San Carlos School seeks to follow the curriculum guidelines established by the
Diocese of Monterey, the National Catholic Education Association, the State of
California, and the National Education Standards issued by the United States
Department of Education.
The curriculum emphasizes developmental growth in learning skills in the
areas of Religion, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Spanish,
Technology, Physical Education, Art, Music and Library Studies.
Religion classes are taught daily.
Technology in integrated into all subject areas.
Co-curricular activities may include: student government, after school
sports, field trips, retreats, outdoor education, student liturgies, Academic
Decathlon, yearbook, spelling bees and community service projects.
We believe that through the experience of Catholic schooling at San Carlos
School, our students will be prepared to be leaders in the Church and society.
To complement the value system of the school and family, an Extended Day Care
Program is offered. Quality care with a nurturing staff in a planned
environment provides a rich before /after school experience.

San Carlos School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools
